Who Creates ATLAS Tasks?

ATLAS tasks are developed by a wide variety of vetted organizations committed to providing science educators with NGSS-aligned, authentic learning and assessment materials.

You may have noticed that the tasks in ATLAS have different styles, formats, and learning approaches. To give you choice to match your teaching style and your students' needs, ATLAS tasks are sourced from a wide variety of trusted developers. Below you will find a list of all the developers who have contributed performance tasks to ATLAS and some additional information about each.

Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative (AMSTI)

A statewide initiative from the Alabama Department of Education that provides professional learning, materials, and coaching to improve math and science teaching.

A non-profit organization that partners with schools and districts to promote student-centered learning through quality performance assessment and school design.

A research institute at Michigan State University that focuses on developing and researching innovations in STEM education, including curriculum and assessment design.

A program that provides guidance and resources to Connecticut educators for creating and using local, curriculum-embedded performance tasks aligned with the state's science standards.

The San Diego Science Project (SDSP) serves both San Diego and Imperial County and is a partnership between UC San Diego and the San Diego County Office of Education.  The project is housed at UC San Diego and works collaboratively with the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Birch Aquarium.
